Tampa Bay Lightning general manager Authentic #27 Johnthan Banks Youth Jersey Steve Yzerman completed his offseason to-do list by signing "model player" Ondrej Palat to a $26.5 million, five-year deal. The Lightning and Palat avoided arbitration and settled on the contract Friday. The Czech left winger will count $5.3 million against the salary cap through the 2021-22 season. The 26-year-old http://www.authenticbuccaneersofficial.com/Nike-Johnthan-Banks-Jers... Palat had 17 goals and 35 assists in 75 games last season. He has 74 goals and 144 assists in 307 NHL games and is considered one of the better defensive wingers in hockey. "His value is probably greater than if you just look at the goals and assists," Yzerman said by phone. "He's really a complete player. He plays in all situations for us, and he's very effective in all situations. Whether we're on the power play, killing a penalty, 5-on-5, we're up a goal, down a goal, late in the game, it's tied, he's going to be in in all those situations, and he plays really hard." Palat played all 26 games of the Lightning's run to the 2015 Stanley Cup Final, scoring eight goals and adding eight assists. He was a seventh-round pick, 208th overall, in 2011 and got a significant raise from his previous $3.3 million salary. Yzerman said his two biggest offseason priorities were re-signing Jose Juan Barea #5 Youth jersey Palat and fellow restricted free-agent Tyler Johnson, who got a $35 million, seven-year deal before an arbitration hearing was necessary. "Our plan was to get them signed," Yzerman said. "We were able to get that accomplished and we're pleased that we could sign them to long-term deals and know that we're going to have them for quite a while. ... They really represent what we want Lightning players to be." Five of Tampa Bay's top six forwards -- Steven Stamkos, Nikita Kucherov, Johnson, Palat and Alex Killorn -- are signed through at least the next two seasons. Despite missing the playoffs last year amid injuries to Stamkos and others, the Lightning have no shortage of offensive talent, with Palat representing a mix of skill and responsible play. "I don't want to undersell his ability because he can make plays," Yzerman said of Palat. "I think he's a guy that http://www.officialmavericksproshop.com/authentic-5-jose-juan-barea... regardless of who he's playing with, everybody wants to play with him because he does all the little things really, really well." The Lightning also cleared cap space and improved their blue line by trading forward Jonathan Drouin to Montreal for young defenseman Mikhail Sergachev, re-signed defenseman Andrej Sustr and forward Yanni Gourde and signed winger Chris Kunitz and defenseman Dan Girardi. With Kucherov up for another contract in two years, Yzerman is always mindful of the cap and got all these moves done with some room to spare. "The contracts came in how they did, and the changes we made, it worked out that we're still under the cap," he said. The offer could have come from former Texas Rangers CEO Chuck Greenberg. Bloomberg News and WRAL-TV, the NBC affiliate in Raleigh, reported that Greenberg is close to purchasing the team and will not move the Hurricanes. Bloomberg reported the sale price at roughly $500 million. Karmanos bought the Hartford Whalers franchise in 1994 and moved it to North Carolina three years later. He had been publicly seeking a local buyer for at least three years. Greenberg is the Rangers' former managing partner who spent seven months as their CEO before leaving in 2011. He also owns several minor league baseball teams, including one in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Greenberg did not return a phone call and a text message seeking comment. Seven Authentic Tyler Thornburg #47 Youth of the team's 12 publicly identified minority investors contacted by The Associated Press either declined comment or did not respond to phone calls and emails seeking comment. Reports about possible relocation have plagued the Hurricanes even as team officials and even commissioner Gary Bettman have persistently and repeatedly denied them. Bettman said at the All-Star Game in January that "the club is not moving" and NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly echoed that sentiment by saying the league is committed to Raleigh in the same manner it has stuck with Phoenix during years of struggles for the Coyotes. Karmanos in 2015 said, "We'd have to be idiots to move from here," largely because of the team's PNC Arena lease, which extends through 2024 and is considered one of the most team-friendly in the league. In its most recent franchise valuations, Forbes magazine ranked the Hurricanes last in the NHL at $230 million. In contrast, Bill Foley paid a $500 million expansion fee to the league to bring the Golden Knights to Las Vegas. The team also ranked last in the league in attendance for the second year in a row in 2016-17, drawing an average of just 11,776 fans to their 18,680-seat home arena and filling it to just 63 percent capacity -- their lowest per-game average since they moved into the building for the 1999-2000 season. They averaged just 12,204 at home the year before. The best way to http://www.officialauthenticredsox.com/authentic-47-tyler-thornburg... improve those numbers, of course, is with a winning team -- and it has been a while since Carolina had one. The Hurricanes were the 2006 Stanley Cup champions but have made the postseason only once (2009) since the club captured its lone title. They have the longest playoff drought in the NHL at eight years. Carolina has had a busy offseason, picking up goalie Scott Darling in a trade with Chicago, bringing back free-agent forward Justin Williams with a two-year deal worth $9 million and most recently signing young defenseman Jaccob Slavin to a seven-year contract extension that will keep him with the team through the 2024-25 season.
